Mark Alsterlind (USA)

1954 Born in Oakland, California, U.S.A. Grows up in the San Francisco area.
1976 Graduates from Santa Clara university in European history.
1976-78 Before entering law school, goes on a short European trip that turns into a two year improvised world tour.
1978 Back from his trip, gives up on being a lawyer and enters Art School, intending to become an illustrator. Attracted to pure art, rapidly decides rather to become a painter.
1980 Graduates from the California Collage of arts and Crafts.
1980-07 Settels down in the South of France where he stills lives; now dividing his time between a studio in Paris and a studio in Provence.
1986 First solo exhibits in galleries and museums.
1994 Receives the Pollock-Krasner price.
2001 Adjunct professor at the Nimes-Montpellier university.
2005 Master degree in fine art, University Vauban, Nimes.
